This blog has been created so everyone can stay in touch between meetings. I thought the round table at the January club meeting was excellent, and at the time, I had the ridiculous notion that we should meet more often - not that I had the time, but just the wish!
So, with Leslie's permission, I began this blog, and I hope everyone becomes a member and posts every day, and comments on each other's posts. We will all learn a lot and help each other, too.
What do you think?
This is awesome, Catherine!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine
ReplyDeleteNice job! I don't know much about blogging but here is my first attempt.
So, should we start a discussion about the last Who Do You Think You Are with Marissa Tomei? I thought it was kind of flat in that it focused on just one family "mystery", but fell - I think - short of the mark as far as telling how they arrived (and the work involved) at the truth of the matter?
ReplyDeleteWhat say YOU?
PS - Vince - it worked - so... how about your opinion? LOL
I discovered the program being on by accident but I did watch it. It seemed Ok to me as well. I interested in that she was of Italian background. It seems short but I did like that she was able to find some history in her family.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the program. I was about 15 minutes late getting home,, so I didn't find out what went on during that time until I was at a friend's house last night and she told me that Marisa's family had assumptions about her great grandfather's death that turned out to be just that. The way the Italian justice system works (or doesn't) was interesting, too, and the well-known attitude of "family honor" that lets people think that murder is okay.
ReplyDeleteI liked the way the research guy gave her translations of the documents, too. Very helpful.
However, the scenery is magnificent. It's like a travelog, watching these episodes. History and countryside in one show is a nice mix.
I am looking forward to next week's episode. I just discovered that this show is on On Demand, so you can watch and re-watch both episodes to your heart's content. I'm watching the Marisa Tomei episode right now. :)
